Award-Winning stage musical KINKY BOOTS launches education resource packs for Key Stage 3-5
Kinky Boots, the winner of every major Best Musical award, is proud to announce the launch of the first Kinky Boots Education Resource Packs for Key Stage 3 - 5 students. The resource packs are written in collaborating with teachers, and can be used both before and after seeing the production with students. The resources are transferable to any live production experience, providing an invaluable tool for students to apply their knowledge and experiences to. There are four sections within each pack: Drama, PSHE and Cross-Curricula subjects. An education background pack and image pack are also included to provide supporting material.
The Kinky Boots Drama Resource Pack includes pre-show lesson plans and worksheets designed to engage students in the role of different theatre makers before watching the production. The Live Theatre Evaluation sheet is then completed by students immediately after the show, ensuring none of the production elements are forgotten. The post-show resources look at the specific creative choices made by the Kinky Boots team in detail, ensuring students critique and analyse the different production components studied at GCSE and A-Level.
The Kinky Boots PSHE Resource Pack also supports the students' understanding of the key themes in the show, such as diversity, identity, relationships and inclusivity. These themes are also directly linked to the PSHE curriculum for Key Stage 3 upwards. Also included is advice and activities for teachers on how to initiate discussions on particular themes, and how to make the classroom a safe and inclusive place to learn and develop opinions on these ever-increasing contemporary issues.
The Kinky Boots Cross-Curricula Pack has been written for Key Stage 3-5 Drama students who may also be studying a range of other subjects (Psychology, Business Studies, Design and Technology, English or Media Studies). This pack includes activities for each subject, designed to make thematic links from the show between these different curricular areas.
Inspired by true events, Kinky Boots takes you from a gentlemen's shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father's expectations and continue the family business of Price & Son. With the factory's future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos.
With direction and choreography by two-time Tony® Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Legally Blonde, Hairspray), Kinky Boots is the winner of every major best Musical award including three Olivier Awards, three WhatsOnStage Awards as well as six Broadway Tony® Awards.
